TESTS IN BALASHIKHA
A new flyover will be opened in Balashikha. The flyover was subjected to final tests with heavy vehicles. Multi-ton heavy duty trucks tested the strength of the structure.
The flyover is almost 300 metres long with a planned capacity of 30,000 vehicles a day.
Engineers checked the amplitude of unavoidable vibrations caused by heavy vehicles. They also evaluate the so-called deflection of the structure when vehicles are on it. “In this case, about 60 millimetres is a permissible value for this length of the span. The maximum permissible value is one four-hundredth of the length,” said Vladimir Mytsik, head of the bridge testing laboratory.
A new overpass in Balashikha will connect the two neighbourhoods of Saltykovka in the urban district, as well as remove the railway crossing.
